With technology continuously improving, long distance relationship gadgets have given couples the ability to stay connected, no matter where they are in the world.
From software to connected devices, these products help to not only improve the quality of long distance relationships, but also their ability to survive.
In fact, research has shown that when you can’t be together in person, technology makes us more sociable. It also benefits couples when it’s used to complement in-person relationships.
While there are downsides associated with technology, we prefer to focus on all amazing ways it can help us reduce the sense of distance between one another.
Here are some of our favorite long distance gadgets and tech options to help you connect on a deeper level.
The Best Long Distance Gadgets & Tech in 2020
Long Distance Lamps by FriendLamps.com
Thanks to Friendship Lamps by FriendLamps.com, you can now light up your partner’s life with a single touch. Once the lamps are connected to each other through Wi-Fi, touching one lamp lights up the other, no matter how far apart you are.
You can each have your own color, or you can assign meanings to different colors, so you can send wordless messages with a touch.
For example, red could mean “I love you,” blue could mean “I miss you” and green could mean “I’m thinking about you”.
Whatever color you choose, it will glow, then fade over 30 minutes unless they tap back to change the color of your lamp in reply.
One thing we love about these lamps is that they have USB plugs, which makes them universal, so you can use them anywhere in the world without needing a specific power adaptor.
Vibrating Bracelet For Couples by Bond Touch
One of the biggest things missing in a long distance relationship when you’re apart is the physical connection. The Vibrating Bracelet For Couples by Bond Touch allows you to virtually “touch” your partner.
When you tap on your bracelet, your partner’s will vibrate and light up. You can tap the bracelet up to 10 times in a row, allowing you to send customized ‘touch messages’ by creating a code (like three taps might mean “I love you”).
You connect the bracelets through the Bond-Touch mobile app with Bluetooth and WiFi. It’s important to note that the bracelet must be within 10 feet of a connected mobile device with the application running in the background to work.
We love that the Bond Touch lasts up to 4 days on a single charge. You also don’t need to worry about taking it off when you’re in the pool or shower as they’re water-resistant to 3 feet.
While the bracelets come standard with a black band, it’s worth checking out some of the other colored bands you can purchase.
Long Distance Touch Frame by FILIMIN
With the Long Distance Touch Frame, FILIMIN has created a unique and multipurpose long distance gadget that combines the technology behind a friendship lamp with a picture frame to hold your dearest memories.
In addition to the Touch Frame, FILIMIN makes several friendship lamp designs that are compatible with each other, including:
- Modern (minimalist style)
- Classic (the original friendship lamp)
- Mid-Century Modern (wood based design)
You have the capability to connect two or more FILIMIN lamps together, and when one of you touches your device, the other will light up, letting your significant other know that you are thinking about them.
The frame itself is very versatile. It can stand both vertically and horizontally on a flat surface or mounted on a wall. We really like that FILIMIN created the frames to fit 4” x 6” or 5” x 7” photos, which are two of the most common sizes.

Spinning Heart Messenger by LoveBox
Have you ever thought about how cool it would be to send text messages to your partner and have them open them like a present? That’s the concept behind the Spinning Heart Messenger by LoveBox.
It was created specifically for LDR couples by somebody in a long distance relationship. Jean Gregoire invented the Spinning Heart Messenger in France so he could send messages to his fiancee, Melodie, while he was at MIT in Boston.
When you send a message via the LoveBox mobile application, up to 168 characters or a hand-drawn picture, the heart on the front of the box will spin until your partner opens the box and reads the message.
Cherish the words, because they will disappear once the box is closed!
Sex Toys For Long Distance Couples by Lovense
Bring the intimacy in your relationship to a whole new level with Max 2 and Nora by Lovense, which have been specifically designed for long distance couples.
With the Lovense Remote App, you can control each other’s devices from your phone or with your own connected device. When Max 2 and Nora are connected, increasing the speed, intensity, or pressure of one will do the same to the other.
For peace of mind, it’s also worth noting that all Lovense devices are made from body-safe and non-porous materials.

Long Distance Vibrators by We-Vibe
If you aren’t into couples toys, or if only one of you wants to play, internet connected vibrators by We-Vibe allow one partner to control the other’s experience.
Using the We-Connect App, you or your partner can change the speed and intensity of vibrations. You can also use video chat right inside the app, so you don’t need to swipe between apps in the middle of the fun.
We love that the Sync has been designed to also be used when you get the chance to be with your partner, which can add a whole new layer of fun to exploring each other’s bodies.
There are a few impressive options available: See our recent article on long distance vibrators to pick the best device for your needs.
Long Distance Heartbeat Speaker by Little Riot
Do you miss the sound of your partner’s heartbeat when you sleep apart? Studies show that listening to a heartbeat can have a calming effect on people.
With the Long Distance Heartbeat Speaker by Little Riot, you can still fall asleep to that sound no matter how far apart you are!
This unique product was created by Joanna Montgomery, who wanted to make a more “human” way to feel connected to your partner when you can’t be with them.
The set comes with two wristbands and two speakers that you each connect to your phones. The pulse from one wristband will transmit to the other speaker.
TIP: We find the best placement for the speaker is under your pillow. It’s just like falling asleep with your head on your partner’s chest!
Long Distance Touch Rings by TheTouch
Is there anything more reassuring than your partner’s heartbeat? With the Long Distance Touch Rings by TheTouch, you can see and feel your partner’s heartbeat in real time.
The setup process is as simple as connecting them to the HB Ring mobile application. When you tap your ring twice, your partner’s ring will send their heartbeat to yours, which will vibrate and flash in time with their pulse. If your partner’s ring isn’t live for some reason (say they forgot to charge it), your ring will play a recorded version of their most recent pulse.
You can charge the rings at night in their classy charging case and wear them all day. With typical use (about 10-15 touches per day), the ring batteries will last around 14 hours.
With stainless steel and rose gold options, these beautiful rings are worth the hefty price tag because there is so much tech packed into a small enclosure.
Long Distance Watch by Kitman Keung
If you live more than one or two time zones away from your partner, the Long Distance Watch by Kitman Keung will spare you from spending all day doing mental math figuring out what time is where your partner lives.
Kitman’s sleek and minimalist design elegantly displays two different times, so you can have one set to your time zone and the other to your partner’s.
With several different watch bands and face materials to choose from, you’re certain to find one that matches your style. Regardless of which style you pick, this stunning timepiece should be treated as a piece of fine jewelry.

Long Distance Hug Shirt by CuteCircuit
Sometimes, there’s nothing better than a hug from your significant other. When you’re separated by miles, the Long Distance Hug Shirt by CuteCircuit can help bridge the distance with cutting-edge technology that replicates the feeling of a hug.
Amazingly, there are no wires in this shirt. It utilizes smart fabrics to communicate with actuators that are embedded in the material. They activate when another person wearing a linked Hug Shirt makes a hugging motion or uses the Q App to send a virtual hug.
CuteCircuit invented the Long Distance Hug Shirt in 2002 and has periodically updated it since then. They also recently released the Sound Shirt for music and gaming, which has more than double the amount of actuators.
App For Long Distance Couples by Between
Messaging is one of the main ways that long distance couples communicate, but regular texting apps can be boring and have limited functionality. Step up your messaging game using Between, a mobile application that’s designed specifically for couples.
Between allows you to track anniversaries, share photos and video, chat, and plan your schedules together all in one place. Everything gets safely stored in the application, so you can keep it together even when you upgrade or have to restore your phone.
Watch Movies Together Online with Kast
How do you “Netflix and chill” when you’re hundreds or thousands of miles apart?
If one of your favorite things to do together is watching movies or TV shows, Kast makes the experience as close as you can get to watching with each other in person. It’s a screen-sharing application that makes watch parties fun and easy.
With the premium version, you and your partner can share a video and your webcam at the same time, so you don’t have to choose between seeing each other and watching something.
If you don’t want to stream your webcam while watching something together, the free version will work just fine.
The Long Distance Relationship Gadgets We Love
We are big fans of any technology that can help long distance couples to strengthen their relationships, and we feel that the Bracelets by Bond Touch do an amazing job of that.
Simply put, they are an affordable way to always be connected to each other, no matter where you are in the world.
While we love the Bond Touch bracelets, you might have your eyes on something completely different. Before buying any of the long distance relationship gadgets on this list, think about your current situation to decide what would best suit your relationship. Keep in mind the following:
- Do you want to buy something you can both use?
- Are you and your partner typically home, or out and about?
- Do you live in different time zones?
- Do you both have reliable Wi-Fi or Smartphones?
- Are you in an international relationship?
- What type of electrical sockets do you each have?
